Diamond Sutra Videos: A Labor of Love
I made individual videos for each of the 32 Chapters of the Diamond Sutra.
This project was a labor of love, which took quite a bit of thought and work to produce.
These videos are dedicated to keeping the Diamond Sutra alive and interesting to a new and more modern audience.
My hope is that these videos will make this version of the Diamond Sutra even more comprehensible, and easier to listen to and absorb.
Images Used in These Videos
The images of the Buddha featured in these videos are all taken from photos of my own personal Buddhas. I took various photos of them at different angles and sizes to use for this video.
There are two Buddha’s used here. The stone Buddha I acquired in Old Delhi, but came from Sarnath India, outside of Varanasi. The other Buddha I got from my father who purchased it while I was a child. I have since given this Buddha to my niece as a family heirloom.

Background Drone: Tanpura
I chose to use a Tanpura as a “drone instrument” in the background, to provide a subtle backdrop which provides a certain atmosphere that I thought was conducive to the proper mood while listening and reading along with these chapters.
The Tanpura is an Indian musical instrument. As Wikipedia says about the Tanpura: “The tanpura does not play a melody, but rather creates a meditative ambience, supporting and sustaining the performance of another musician or vocalist, as well as for musicians accompanying a dance performance.”
I am also offering a version of the reading of these chapters that has no Tanpura as background, in case the person listening prefers not to have any distraction of any other sound.
Unrushed: Relaxed Opening and Closing
There is a fairly relaxed intro and exit at the beginning and ending of these chapter videos, again to provide a more fitting context for these videos. My thinking was; “if you are in a rush, maybe you aren’t in the proper state of mind to absorb these words at this time”.
Please feel free to leave your feedback about any aspect of these videos. I welcome your responses.
